Heritage story for the day

Mom and her brothers had a meeting and decided that they were no longer going to call their father "Daddy," but would instead refer to him as "Dad." This change was suspected to bring disturbance to the household, however, so Evan was chosen to test it out. While the siblings watched in secret, Evan walked through the room where their dad was reading and risked everything by saying, "Hi Dad."

"Hi," came the reply.

And that was that. It was determined that "Dad" was now an acceptable title, thanks to Evan's bravery and sacrifice.

Seems so ridiculous now, but it was such a big deal at the time, testing out the new name. We never knew what would set off fireworks. Fortunately, Evan was a great sacrificial child to test the waters!

Poor Evan. He always was my favorite uncle. When he was around. How did this story come up, anyway?

Uncle Evan was over because he'd just picked up Dallin, and somehow they started talking about it at dinner (you know, between all the "we were too poor to ____" stories).
